COMMON PROBLEMS WE FIX
CMS migration fears, and the safeguards we put in place
Moving platforms feels risky because so much is invisible until it breaks. These cards cover the common fears, what we do about each and what you gain.
01
“We're afraid our Google rankings will vanish the day we switch.”
WHAT WE DOWe crawl the old site to list every URL, match each to its new address, write a permanent redirect for each one, and carry over titles, descriptions, headings and structured data before launch.WHAT CHANGESYou switch platforms knowing every old link has somewhere sensible to go.
02
“Years of posts sit in the old system, and nobody can copy them by hand.”
WHAT WE DOWe export content through the old platform's API or database, map each field to the new content model, script the import, then spot-check formatting, images, authors and internal links across a broad sample of pages.WHAT CHANGESYour archive moves across in an orderly way, without weeks of copy and paste.
03
“Last time we moved, broken links and missing images turned up for months.”
WHAT WE DOBefore launch we test the full site on staging: a link crawl, form submissions, image checks, page templates on phones, and a comparison of old and new page counts so missing pages show up before visitors find them.WHAT CHANGESProblems surface on staging, where they are cheap and quiet to fix.
04
“We can't afford for the website to be down while it moves.”
WHAT WE DOWe build the new site in parallel, freeze content edits briefly, run a final sync, then switch DNS at a quiet time with the old site kept ready so we can roll back if needed.WHAT CHANGESVisitors keep using the site as normal while the move happens behind the scenes.
WHY IT MATTERS
A platform move succeeds or fails on the details
Changing CMS is often the right decision. The old platform may be slow, expensive, insecure or simply hard to edit. The risk lies in what search engines and visitors already know about the old site: addresses that are bookmarked and linked, pages that rank, forms tied to other systems. Move without a map, and those connections break quietly.
A migration with us follows a plan you can read. We start with a full inventory of pages, files and links, agree what moves, merges or retires, and map every field to the new platform. Content is transferred by script where possible and checked by people, redirects are tested before launch, and we monitor Search Console after launch so issues are caught early.
SIGNS YOU NEED THIS
Your current CMS is slow, costly or hard to edit
You have years of content and backlinks to protect
A previous site move cost you traffic
BENEFITS
What a careful CMS migration protects and improves
What changes for your business once it’s done properly.
✓01
Old links still lead somewhere
Mapped redirects and preserved metadata point search engines and old bookmarks to the right new pages, rather than to error pages.
✓02
Cleaner content than before
Migration is a chance to retire outdated pages, merge duplicates and tidy formatting, so you arrive on the new platform with less clutter.
✓03
A platform that fits now
Leaving a system you have outgrown removes workarounds, licence costs or plugin sprawl that held the team back from publishing what it needs.
✓04
A plan you can follow
A written migration plan, a launch checklist and regular updates mean you always know what has moved, what is next and who is responsible.

A well-planned move keeps the risk low, but nobody can promise rankings will stay exactly where they are. Temporary movement is common while search engines process the change. The safeguards are a complete URL map, permanent redirects, carried-over metadata and page content that still answers the same questions. After launch we monitor Search Console and fix crawl errors as they appear.
It depends mostly on how much content you have and how different the old and new platforms are. A small site with simple pages moves far faster than a large archive with custom fields, several authors and multiple languages. After the inventory we give you a timeline with the content freeze and launch window marked, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Most common combinations, including WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, Drupal and headless systems. What matters more than the names is whether the old platform lets us export content cleanly and whether the new one can hold it. We check both early, and where an export is limited we plan a careful manual transfer instead.
It is often safer to migrate first and redesign afterwards, though combining them can save time when the old design must go anyway. Changing platform, URLs and design at once makes it harder to tell what caused any drop in traffic. We weigh the risk with you and, if both happen together, keep URLs and page content as stable as possible.
